I had a blood test a few days ago. Today I have a CT scan appointment at Derby hospital. I drove myself there.

This appointment was arranged over the phone a few days ago, I was told to park in car park 6, then phone a mobile number to let them know I was there. They had a mobile CT scanner unit just opposite the car park.
Once I arrive there, I get out of the car, have a look around the car park, I see where the mobile unit is, now I know where I’m going. I phone the mobile number to let them know I’m there. They tell me to have a drink of water, they will be ready for me in 15 minutes.

I sit in the car drinking water, waiting for them to call me.
After they call me, I make my way over to the mobile unit.

Two guys tried to get the cannula in the back of my hand, I’m not sure if they were nurses or if they had another title, but they were very polite and friendly, they were having difficulties trying to get the cannula in the back of my hand, they tried both hands.
I asked if I could drink the contrast dye instead, one of the guys started going into great detail why I can’t drink it, before realising I wasn’t serious.

They asked if I had any metal on my clothing, I said only on my jogging bottoms on the strings, they looked and said it should be ok.
Shortly after the CT scanner started, they stopped, one of the guys came in and told me my jogging bottoms was interfering with the scanner, he asked if he could pull my trousers down, as I was halfway in the CT scanner, bearing in mind I have a cannula in my wrist which is attached to the machine. I tell him that’s fine, he asks if I have boxers on, I tell him I do. He’s now at the other end of the scanner, he keeps apologising, as he pulls my jogging bottoms down. Just for a laugh I say “I think I have boxers on” I look down and say “Yeah, I’ve got boxers on”.

I go home, now I just have to wait for Dr Szita to call me, to see if I will be having round 3 of chemo, I hope I am.

Dr Szita phones me, she tells me the chemo is working fine, I will be having round 3.
I’m really pleased, because I now know the chemo treatment is working, it’s also working as well as intended. I would be more concerned if the chemo wasn’t working, or not working as well as intended, that would make me worry about what’s going on with my body, worrying if the cancer is spreading.
