In 2020 I was frequently drinking no added sugar fruit juice, the colour of my wee was going orange, the same colour as the fruit juice. Naturally I thought perhaps I’m drinking too much fruit juice, so I stopped drinking it, then the colour of my wee seemed normal after that.

Weeks later, my wee was orange again, then brown. This only lasted for about 2 days, then was back to normal for weeks. I started to think perhaps my body was having a bit of clear out of some kind. Then the colour of my wee changed again, this time to red, sometimes with blood clots, the larger blood clots were uncomfortable to pass, this lasted a day or two, then back to normal for weeks.
I now started to think, maybe this is some kind of infection, but I was in no pain at all. For the next few weeks, I was unsure what colour my wee was going to be, sometimes orange, sometimes brown. I drank lots of water, thinking this would flush out any infection, daft I know, but it seemed to work, now my wee was back to normal.
Weeks and weeks had now passed with no problems, so I thought I was fine.
Then the colour of my wee started to change again, I now started to think this could be something or nothing, so this time I told my wife, I also told my parents, it was a weekend, so I had to wait until the next Monday to phone the doctors.
Monday came, I was straight on the phone to the doctors, the doctor told me she was referring me to hospital for a camera scan. I didn’t ask any questions and waited for my appointment.
