27/06/2020 - Covid Swab

I know my operation is fast approaching, I’m getting more worried. Today is 27th June 2020, I drive myself to Burton hospital for my covid swab.
I pulled up by the marquee just outside the hospital. A nurse came up to me and asked for my name, date of birth etc, to ensure she had the correct paperwork for my test results. I was asked to stay in the car during this test. The nurse placed what I could only describe as an ice lolly stick, on top of my tongue, to hold it down, while tickling the back of my mouth with what looked like a cotton bud.
This was just for a few seconds, made me gag a little, then she asked me to blow my nose, then got another cotton bud, this time it went up my nose, one nostril at a time.
The nurse said, “Makes your eyes water, doesn’t it?”
I replied “yes”. She told me to take a minute before driving off if I needed to.
I was advised they would have the results in time before my operation, if the results come back as positive, my operation would be postponed for at least 2 weeks, I’m confident about my results, as I have been staying at home as much as possible, as I didn’t want to catch a cold or bug or anything just before my operation.
