Matt's Cancer
06/07/2020 - Consultation
Page 9
Today I have a consultation with my consultant Miss Shah at Burton Hospital. Mum & Dad take me to the hospital, Mum comes to the consultation with me.
By now, I have come to terms with the prospect of losing my bladder. I'm thinking if it’s cancer, I don’t want it in my body.
Miss Shah gets to the point and tells me it’s cancer, and aggressive. Like she previously discussed, the best option is to have my bladder removed, without this operation this cancer will without doubt kill me.
She explained I will need to have radiotherapy, then chemo treatment. I would then have to recover from the chemo treatment, then have my operation. Miss Shah explained the tumours were deep inside my bladder muscle. She wasn’t sure if I was taking all this information in, it was hard to be told all this, but I had already prepared myself for the worst.
Miss Shah explained the treatment and operation will knock me about, but I will be ok at the end of it, she told me they are going to save my life.
After the consultation, Mum and I met Dad and had a coffee, I couldn’t speak for cryin’, it just unexpectedly hit me. Mum started to tell Dad the outcome, after a while I was able to talk. Then we went home.
