Today Mel had an appointment with Mr Vakis. He has the results from the surgery.
Mr Vakis had explained in the beginning that he didn’t think there would be any further treatment after surgery, but couldn’t say for sure. As he would know more during and after surgery.
We also asked Mr Vakis if Mel would need to have a colostomy bag. He said he didn’t think so, but couldn’t be certain. He told us, if Mel did need to have a colostomy bag, then Mel would probably have to come back for more surgery for this.
So, with all this in mind, we didn’t know what to expect, all we knew was that the cancer was caught early.
The appointment was at 11:00 hrs, so we left early, as we knew traffic would slow us down, and parking would be a nightmare.

When we got to the hospital, I pulled up in the car park, waiting for a lady to drive out of a disabled space, while she was chatting on her phone. A guy came up to us, asked if we were waiting for a disabled space. He told us he was just leaving and we could have his space. That was kind of him, so we had his space, and only had to wait approx 5 minutes.
By the time we got into the hospital, we had over an hour till our appointment, so we had a coffee and something to eat in the cafe.

When it was time, Mel booked herself in at reception.
We saw Mr Vakis. The first thing he told us was that the cancer is in the bin. This was good news, as the cancer has not spread to anywhere else.
The next thing he told us, was he had his meeting with his colleagues, they all agreed that no further treatment would be needed.
However, Mr Vakis explained, as Mel is young, he has offered a treatment of chemo. This would be just for precaution, to give Mel the best chance. This option is optional, but recommended by Mr Vakis.
Mel has decided to accept this offer of chemo, we think it would be foolish to decline this treatment.
