Today I took Mel to the treatment centre at Burton Hospital, for her pre-op appointment. The appointment was with Nurse Gail, who asked Mel all kinds of questions, such as:

• Are you diabetic?
• Have you ever suffered any heart problems?
• Have you ever suffered from a stroke?
• What medication are you currently on?
• Do you smoke?
• Do you drink?

And other questions.
Nurse Gail took Mel’s blood pressure, then listened to her chest and back, and said everything sounds fine.
Nurse Gail gave Mel some paperwork, explaining what she can and can’t eat and drink leading up to her surgery.
Mel then saw another nurse, who took some blood, then did a ECG. The results from the ECG were good, and proved Mel has a healthy heart.

Once we came home, Mel received a phone call from the hospital, to confirm what time Mel needs to be at the hospital on the 19th, the day of her surgery. It’s 07:30 in the morning, it’s going to be another early start.
